Abstract:
Foreign language teachers in China are faced with a series of challenges including their heavy workload, limited publication options, and relatively inadequate academic underpinning, each ascribable to different reasons. The solutions lie in the use made of the development of foreign language education in its broad sense, and in the adoption of a national initiative perspective, a global vision, and a comparative approach in the development of the foreign language discipline in the new era.
