Assessment for Learning: Use of Formative Feedback in English Language Teaching and Learning

Abstract

This article explores the use of formative feedback in English language teaching and learning. Following an introduction to the ideology of formative feedback and formative assessment, the article analyzes two formative feedback models and summarizes empirical studies of formative feedback both at home and abroad. The final part of the article discusses, from the perspectives of teachers, students, universities, and educational administrators, the impact of formative feedback on promoting learner autonomy and improving English language proficiency.
