Abstract:

Diabetic foot ulceration (DFU) is a common complication in diabetic patients and an important cause of
deterioration, amputation and even death. Thorough debridement, infection control, re-establishment of blood flow and timely
repair of the wound are the mainstays of treatment for DFU. Antibiotic bone cement has been used to treat DFU wounds with
satisfactory results. In this paper, the available literature was analyzed and found that the common strategy for the use of
antibiotic bone cement in DFU is to cover the wound with antibiotic bone cement to control infection and promote induction
membrane production after complete debridement in phase 1, and to repair the wound with skin grafting, flap grafting and Ilizarov
technique in phase 2. In addition, the relevant adjuvant treatments were listed based on antibiotic bone cement materials to
provide a variety of options for clinical treatment.
