Abstract:

Hypertrophic scar is a pathological condition resulting from aberrant activation of fibroblasts and excessive deposition of extracellular matrix during cutaneous wound healing. Various therapeutic approaches, including both surgical and non-surgical modalities, have been employed; However, the treatment outcomes are often unsatisfactory. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), through their potent paracrine effects, exert multi-target regulatory actions on fibroblasts, signaling pathways, and the immune microenvironment, demonstrating considerable potential for the prevention and treatment of scars. In this paper, the recent advances in the application of MSCs for treating hypertrophic scars were reviewed.
