Abstract: Optimizing the configuration of the compressors, controlling the weight of the platform and reducing the investment cost are the key to the success of the deepwater natural gas development project. Since the number and operating conditions of compressors of the deepwater gas field in the South China Sea are complex, the deck area and the lifting design of the offshore platform are directly influenced by the selection and layout of the compressors. Under the precondition of compliance with the stringent weight limitation of “FLOAT-OVER” used for the offshore platform installation, we recommend the optimization scheme with less number of compressors and low investment, and propose to use platform crane to hoist large reservation compressors, which saves a lot of investment for the project.
