Abstract: The offshore platform has small space, limited installed capacity of generators, increased load capacity, and increased load rate of transformers. The excitation inrush current during no-load closing of transformers causes a huge impact on both transformers and generators, and can also lead to closing failure. Most products use phase separation operation to control the closing angle and suppress the transformer closing inrush current. However, due to the three-phase linkage of the circuit breakers of the generator and transformer, the actual application effect is not ideal. The Vizimax MVX surge suppressor greatly reduces the amplitude of the surge and harmonic components by measuring and controlling residual magnetism, ensuring the success of each closing, improving power quality, and prolonging the life of core electrical equipment such as transformers and generators. It can provide experience and reference for similar engineering projects in the future.
