Abstract: Submarine pipeline is the main tool for the transportation and exporting of offshore oil and gas resource. The working pipeline would suffer stress concentration and occurrence of crack, which may lead to crack propagation, due to the change of transmission medium, corrosion, fishing, dragging anchors and other activities. It is very important to evaluate the strength of the submarine pipeline with crack damage. General structure failure assessment diagram (FAD) technology and application of level 2 evaluation method in the specification BS7910—1999 are introduced. An evaluation system is developed according to BS7910—1999. Case study shows that this system can be used to quickly assess the strength of pipeline with crack damage.
