Abstract:  With the development of flexible pipe, the effect of bending stiffness of accessories and equipment on flexible riser has become current research focus. Based on 8 inch (1 inch ≈ 2.54 cm) flexible pipe, considering the nonlinear stiffness coupling buoyancy module with flexible pipe, we establish steep wave riser model in shallow water. Simulation is carried out using time domain analysis method in OrcaFlex software for flexible risers tension and curvature. The results are compared with another model ignoring the coupling bending stiffness. It is shown that the effect of bending stiffness is little on maximum tension result; however, the effect of bending stiffenss is more significant on the maximum curvature. More accurate results of riser configuration analysis can be obtained by considering the bending stiffness of buoyancy module riser.
