Abstract:

In conducting Translation Practice for translation bachelors, such problems emerge as little face to face teacher-student contact in classrooms, and irregular class arrangements, among which the most conspicuous deficiency lies in the lack of the ideological education in terms of moral and political training. To fill in this gap, the more extensive introduction and infusion of moral and political content is necessary. Hence, in addition to enriching the teaching content of Translation Practice, we could also rely on a database platform (here specifically, the Multilingual Platform of Xi Jinping on the Governance of China) to enhance the students’ ability of telling Chinese stories well. Case study on the basis of two terms’ teaching of Translation Practice reveals that this platform provides infusion channels for the conduction of ideological education throughout the pre-class, in-class, and post-class process, thus being conducive to forging translation majors’ global competence. When the course finishes at the end of the terms, students shared their reflections on and harvests from the course, acknowledging that their national consciousness got enhanced.
