Abstract:

The entry into force of the RCEP marks that the world’s largest free-trade zone that covers developed, developing and the least underdeveloped countries of the world, has been officially launched. Language situation in this region are thus characteristic of colorfulness, diversity and complexity, and many of them have intrinsic connections with the languages spoken in China. Considering this complex language situation in the RCEP partner countries, we should vigorously take multiple measures, such as promoting the education of Teaching Chinese As An International Language, making full use of English to shape and propagandize China’s national image, fostering and reserving talents of the official languages used in regional partner countries and endeavoring to investigate and protect the endangered languages so that we could reinforce the construction of language security for the RCEP partner countries, to facilitate the smooth implementation of the RCEP Agreement and to safeguard the holistic national security of China.
