Abstract: Objective To evaluate the biocompatibility of the silk fibroin-based nerve grafts in vivo. Methods Silk fibroin conduits were subderma implanted, harvested at 4,8,12,and 24 weeks after operation and processed for histologic analysis. Results There was mild inflammatory reaction at the implant sites.Silk fibroin conduits were completely absorbed after 24 weeks. Conclusion Silk fibroin conduit had an excellent compatibility and suitable degradable properties to be used for peripheral nerve regeneration.
