Abstract: Objective To investigate the determined risk factors of joint dysfunction in patients with limb venous malformations. Methods Patients with venous malformation of limbs were collected from Jan 2013 to Aug 2015. Their initial presenting symptoms were categorized into the dysfunction and control groups. Independent risk factors for dysfunction were identified between the two groups. Results A total of 168 patients with venous malformation of the limbs were identified. Among them, 44 (26%) patients presented as flexion or extension limitation and varus or valgus were enrolled into the dysfunction group. In univariate analysis, age, location, size, involved tissue, visual analogue scale of pain and pain duration were significantly associated with joint dysfunction (Pone year) remained independently associated with joint dysfunction. Conclusion It highlights that the importance of an early and precise diagnosis in limb VMs. Pain relief is also a key approach to prevent joint dysfunction and pain should be under control in early.
