Abstract: Objective To in vestigate the main causes for the loss of orthodontic items in orthognathic surgery, and to explore the effect of node management in reducing the loss rate of orthodontic articles. Methods A research team was set up to analyze the causes of the loss of orthodontic items during operation, and to explore the possible surgical procedures so as to develop control measures. From June 2018 to January 2019, 763 patients undergoing orthognathic surgery were selected, all of whom were wearing orthodontic items in their mouths. Among them, 372 cases undergoing orthognathic surgery from June to September 2018 were set as the control group, which adopted the traditional counting process. Three hundred and ninety-one patients undergoing orthognathic surgery from October to January 2019 were set as experimental group and node management was adopted. The loss rate of orthodontic items and work efficiency before and after intervention were compared. Results After the application of node management, the loss rate of orthodontic items in the orthognathic surgery were significantly reduced, and the ineffective anesthesia and operation time were shortened. The differences were all statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of node management can effectively reduce the loss rate of orthodontic items in orthognathic surgery, promote the smooth operation of orthognathic surgery, and ensure the safety of patients.
