Abstract:

Cleft palate can adversely affect speech, swallowing, breathing and hearing. The latest progress in the study of soft
palate development shows that the development of soft palate may be regulated by different pathways related to the development
of hard palate. It is necessary to study the signal pathways involved in the development of soft palate. The soft palate includes
three cell types: epithelial cells, cranial nerve crest-derived mesenchymal cells and muscle-derived cells, which interact with
each other. In this paper, the research progress of soft palate development signal pathway in recent years was reviewed, in order
to improve our understanding of the regulation mechanism of soft palate development, and provide a basis for improving the
treatment of cleft soft palate in the future.
