Abstract:

Barrier membrane is the key to the success of guided bone regeneration (GBR). The ideal barrier membrane ma
terial should have good biocompatibility, mechanical properties, biodegradability and osteogenic guidance. At present, the Bio
Gide biofilm is more mature in clinical application, but it is expensive and the use cost is high. Polylactic acid is a kind of material,
which is simple to make, has good biocompatibility, degradability and mechanical property, and is expected to be used as a GBR
barrier membrane. In this paper, the properties of polylactic acid and its feasibility as GBR barrier membrane were reviewed.
