Design and Analysis of the Pressure Test Facilities of Subsea Wellhead and Supporting Tools

Abstract: Subsea wellheads subjected to complex internal pressure and external loads is the key equipment for deepwater oil and gas development. Currently, stability of subsea wellhead and corresponding supporting tools are mainly assessed by theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. Due to lack of pressure test tools, the actual structure responses of subsea wellhead and corresponding supporting tools could not be reflected. In this work, specialized tools aiming attesting the internal pressure of subsea wellhead and corresponding supporting tools are designed with consideration of different operation conditions and loads. Additionally, for guaranteeing the security of test tools during test experiments, mechanical strength analysis is carried out by establishing related finite element model. Simulation results show that bearing capacity test could be implemented in safety using the designed test tools, and the stress are lower than the yielding strength of test tools. The research could provide technical support for the structural design and optimization analysis of the subsea wellhead test tool.
