Abstract: Submarine cables are affected by environment loadings during the laying operation. In order to ensure the safety of the submarine cable during laying operation, accurate analysis is required to determine the dynamic response and acceptable sea conditions. Based on OrcaFlex software, a coupled vessel-cable -seabed dynamic analysis model was established, and the dynamic response of submarine cables was analyzed. The results show that the environmental loading has a significant influence on the axial tension, and as the wave height increases, the axial tension of the submarine cable increases nonlinearly. During the cable laying operations, it is important to control the operation window. This research shows that the proposed numerical simulation method is efficient and feasible for cable laying analysis, which can provide reference for the laying analysis of submarine cable in China.
