摘要:

22年前,教育部颁发了《关于外语专业面向21世纪本科教育改革的若干意见》(以下简称《意见》)。《意见》要求外语专业改变单一语言技能或语言文学方向的培养模式,大力开拓国家和社会急需的复合型人才培养模式。这是挽救英语专业消亡的伟大决策。但是22年来,复合型人才培养模式在英语专业界始终受到质疑和阻击,直到《英语专业本科教学质量国家标准》最后宣告复合型人才培养模式终止实施。本文分析了复合型培养模式失败的原因以及复合型培养模式对挽救英语专业,满足国家需求的重大意义,最后讨论了复合型人才培养模式的途径和方法。

Abstract:

In 1998, the MOE released an important document entitled Some Opinions on the Reform of the Undergraduate Education for Foreign Language Majors in the 21st Century. The document requires that foreign language disciplines aimed at providing exclusive language trainings or single studies of literature and linguistics should be tailored to meet the national needs and cultivate compound talents. This is a great strategy to save the English major from its demise. Since 1998, however, the cultivation of the compound talents had been questioned and challenged until the issue of The National Standards of Teaching Quality for English Major, which officially put an end to implementing the policy. We analyze the reasons for the failure of the policy with an attempt to illustrate the significance of the cultivation of the compound talents in terms of avoiding the crisis of English majors and addressing the socioeconomic needs. We also explore the ways to cultivate the compound talents.
