Abstract: The makings of translators are a major indicator of translators' acquisition of expertise and competence in a sustainable way and determine the quality of translation. Besides the general makings of translators, translators for children should be equipped with a profound understanding of the essence of children's literature, an acute awareness of its style and competence in stylistic translation, together with the sense of responsibility of translating for children, all of which constitute the core makings of translators for children.
