Abstract: Yan Lianke's novels, especially the English version of Shou Huo, namely Lenin's Kisses, soon were in the spotlight of literary translation after Yan reaped Kafka Prize for Literature. Therefore, the adoption of appropriate method and theory for translation became a hot topic. This paper aims at exploring how Carlos Rojas, the translator of Yan's fiction, exerted his initiative in the translation of this work. He used translation strategies like transformation, adding and deletion, coinage and free translation to bridge the cultural gap between China and English speaking countries, and finally introduced this Chinese literary work into the English world successfully.
