A Study on Equivalence in Legal Translation from the Pragmatic Perspective

Abstract: Achieving an equivalent translation is the target of legal translation. But as the legal translation is the translation between both legal systems and language systems involving factors such as language, law, society and history, it is impossible to achieve absolute equivalent legal translation. Legal translation shall be seen as a pragmatic process and TT readers' comprehension is the key element for achieving the equivalence, so factor that influence the pragmatic process of legal translation shall be studied carefully.
