Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of autologous fat grafting for facial contour improvement and facial rejuvenation. Methods From January 2013 to December 2014, 140 cases aged 19 to 65 years with poor facial contour or aging face were treated by autologous fat grafting. After purification, washing and decanting, autologous fat harvested by liposuction from lower abdomen or thigh was injected into the recipient areas of face and neck, including fronto-temporal region, tear trough, malar and cheek areas, nose, nasolabial fold, chin, lip, earlobe and the other areas of face. Results All cases were followed up for 3 to 18 months, 130 cases gained satisfactory clinical results by injecting for once and the other10 cases acquired satisfactory clinical results with second injections. Except for 1 case of induration in the right temporal region and 5 cases of longer-lasting swelling over 2 months in naso-jugal creases, there were no obvious complications such as infection, fat necrosis and fibrosis. The satisfactory rate was 93.6% in total. Conclusion Autologous fat transfer is a simple, safe and quite effective method for facial contour improvement and facial rejuvenation, which can remodel facial appearance, recover facial volume and promote facial rejuvenation naturally. Most of the patients were satisfied with the soft, natural appearance of the face.
