Abstract: Objective To explore the feasibility and safety of the pulsed dye laser (PDL) for the treatment of infantile hemangiomas in neonates. Methods From January 2015 to November 2016, neonates with infantile hemangiomas treated by PDL were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were diagnosed as infantile hemangiomas and accepted at least one time of therapy. Photo and ultrasound were taken before and after treatment. The neonates were graded according to the degree of regression of hemangioma. Results A total of 112 neonates (33 males, 79 females) with infantile hemangiomas accepted 217 times of PDL therapy. The therapeutic effects of these neonates were evaluated, including 5 cases with poor effects, 13 cases in general, 27 cases with good results and 67 excellent cases. 95.54% patients got acceptable results, 83.93% patients achieved good or better results. After treatment, blisters were observed in 6 patients and partial rupture was observed in one patient. Twelve patients left hyperpigmentation after the hemangiomas were cured. Conclusion PDL is a safe and effective method for the treatment of infantile hemangiomas in neonates.
