Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of sclerotherapy using polidocanol injectable foam combined with pinyangmycin in the treatment of venous malformation in tongue of preschoolers.

Methods From January 2017 to December 2018, 26 preschoolers with venous malformation in tongue treated with sclerotherapy were retrospectively analyzed. Intraoperatively, the tongue lesions were punctured from multiple angles, and after the blood was recovered, contrast agent was injected for DSA angiography, and polidocanol injectable foam or pingyangmycin was injected under DSA fluoroscopy. The general information, clinical manifestations, imaging data, therapeutic effect and complications were all recorded.

Results A total of 72 sclerosing treatments were performed in 26 patients, with an average of 2.77 sclerosing treatments per patient (1-4 sclerosing treatments per patient). The clinical symptoms of all the children were relieved to different degrees, among which 4 cases were cured, 20 cases were basically relieved, and 2 cases were effective, with an overall effective rate of 100%. Short-term complications included mild swelling (23 cases) and fever (4 cases). No serious complications was observed in the 26 cases.

Conclusion Sclerotherapy using polidocanol injectable foam combined with pinyangmycin is an effective and safe method with few side effect for the treatment of venous malformations in tongue of preschoolers, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
