    Summary of Development of Flexible Riser Structural Technology in Deep Water

    Flexible riser is one of core equipments of deep-water oil and gas exploitation. It is regarded as the “blood vessel” of underwater production system. In this paper, the basic structure and development of flexible riser system are introduced in detail. The design and production technology of the main flexible pipeline manufacturers are summarized. With the development of oil and gas field moving into deeper water, the technology of flexible riser in this paper will make contributions to the autonomous and controllable development of deep-water oil and gas exploitation in China.

    Experimental Testing Technology of Marine Flexible Pipeline and Umbilical Cables

    The development of marine oil and gas resources is inseparable from the development and application of marine equipment. Flexible pipes and umbilical cables in marine equipment are the key equipment in the development of offshore oil and gas resources, and their safety and reliability is very important. Due to the multi-layer and spirally wound structural characteristics of marine flexible pipes and umbilical cables, the design and application of marine flexible pipes and umbilical cables need to rely on experimental testing techniques to ensure the safety and reliability of their applications. This article focuses on the experimental testing technology of flexible pipes and umbilical cables for offshore oil and gas development. It introduces the internationally used testing standards for flexible marine pipes and umbilical cables. Then through a large number of investigations, the key test types are explained in detail. It is hoped that the detailed description of the experimental testing technology of marine flexible pipes and umbilical cables can provide a certain reference for engineers in the field of marine equipment design, experimental testing and marine flexible pipeline, and umbilical cable application.

    The Global and Local Analysis of the Bundle Hybrid Offset Riser Based on Equivalent Property

    The bundle hybrid offset riser (BHOR) is a slender marine structure, it is efficiently and accurately to use the beam model instead of solid model in strength analysis. Consideration is given to efficiency and accuracy through a technique in which the global response of BHOR is simulated based on beam model and the local response of the dangerous position based on solid model. the equivalent inertia moment calculation method of BHOR is given by theoretical derivation. The equivalent polar moment of inertia is calculated based on numerical simulation. The equivalent mechanical properties of BHOR are given to the beam element, and the overall response is simulated and the dangerous position is determined. The numerical simulation is carried out for the dangerous position using the solid element, and the stress distribution of the local model is obtained and the strength check is performed based on the specification. The method takes into account the calculation efficiency and precision, and provides an effective means for the analysis of the mechanical properties of BHOR.

    Application and Technical Challenge of Flexible Pipe in Deep-sea Mining

    Flexible pipe is one of the most important equipments applied for hoist and transportation in deep-sea mining. In this paper, the application requirements and status of flexible pipes are systematically proposed with respect to development mode, transmission medium and self-reliability in deep-sea mining. This is followed by the types and technical characters of four typical kinds of flexible pipes. In order to meet the requirements for deep-sea mining, technical route for developing flexible pipes used in deep-sea mining is proposed, and the technical challenges of flexible pipes are described including global application, section design, manufacture and test. Those may provide necessary technical references for developing the flexible pipe used in deep-sea mining in China.

    Research on the Standard and the Guidelines for Survey of Flexible Pipes used for Subsea Pipelines

    For the survey requirements of flexible pipes in subsea pipelines, CCS carries out research on the standards of flexible pipe, combined with survey experience, and composes the Guidelines for Survey of Metal Flexible Pipes Used for Subsea Pipelines, which would serve as the basis for surveys of such pipes. From the perspective of the difference between flexible pipe and traditional steel pipe in subsea pipeline system, this paper introduces the characteristics of flexible pipe in material, design, test, manufacture and installation, discusses the major requirements and technical background of the guidelines, and makes suggestions for further research.

    Bending moment analysis of coiling of floating hose

    During non-operational period, floating hose coiled on the drum of oil tanker or FPSO, it is easy to deform or even destroy its function, the coiling analysis of floating hose is an indispensable segment in the process of analysis, calculation, inspection and verification of floating hose. Firstly, the basic assumptions of the model and the calibration criteria suitable for the floating hose are determined, and the floating hose is simplified reasonably. Secondly, the model is built on ABAQUS, and the stress and strain of each layer of the main pipe of the floating hose under the coiling moment are obtained. Finally, according to the principle of checking and approving, the strength of each layer of the main pipe is checked. The results show that the utilization ratio of each layer meets the design requirements, and the reinforced bar meets the strength requirements in use.

    Analysis of the Collapse Resistance of Steel Strip Reinforced Flexible Pipe

    Flexible pipes are widely used in the process of offshore oil and gas development. External hydrostatic pressure caused by marine environment will cause collapse failure of flexible pipes. Spiral wound steel strip structure is used to improve the resistance of external pressure. In this paper, the collapse behavior of steel strip reinforced flexible pipeline is studied by prototype collapse test and numerical simulation. The validity of the finite element model is determined by the consistency of the experimental and numerical simulation results. Based on this model, the relevant parameters are studied. The results show that the collapse pressure can be increased with the increase of friction coefficient between layers. When the yield limit of steel strip is less than 100 MPa, the collapse resistance of flexible pipe reduces. The increase of yield limit of steel strip after 200 MPa has little effect on the collapse resistance of steel strip reinforced flexible pipeline, so the steel strip structure with lower strength can be selected based on the principle of economy.

    Numerical Simulation of Mechanical Behavior of Buoy Syntactic Foam

    Epoxy resin matrix syntactic foam filled with glass microspheres is widely used in deep water buoy. In this paper, epoxy resin E51 is filled with hollow glass microspheres S60HS to prepare composite foam. The mechanical behavior of the hollow glass microspheres composite foam is analyzed by testing the mechanical properties of different volume fractions. Based on the microstructure characteristics of composite foam, the numerical model is established to study the influence of the diameter distribution of microspheres on the mechanical properties of composite foam. The results show that the predicted results of the finite element model with the logarithmic normal distribution of the microsphere diameter are in good agreement with the experimental data.

    Analysis on Current Situation and Application Prospect of FLNG Cryogenic Hose Technology

    FLNG cryogenic hose unloading system technology is mainly mastered by a few countries such as Europe and America. Cryogenic hose material selection and structure design are difficult, manufacturing and performance testing work cryogenic sealing, connection and leakage monitoring are also difficult, cryogenic hose system structure is complex, and the system safety requirements are high. Key technologies of cryogenic hose include cryogenic resistance, high isolation and compliance structure multi-objective collaborative design technology, large diameter multi-layer composite hose continuous winding molding technology and cryogenic condition dynamic fatigue test verification technology, large size hose manufacturing equipment needs to be developed, while full-size testing equipment needs to be systematically studied. FLNG cryogenic hose unloading system is irreplaceable for the development of South China Sea gas fields, and has a good application prospect in the aspects of floating ship to shore transportation and ship refueling.
