Abstract: Spoken English has always been the bottleneck for most English learners, which relates not only to the examination-oriented teaching modes, but also to the negative psychology of Chinese students—timidity and fearing for losing face. This study conducted an SPSS analysis on the correlation of spoken English and contextual factors, targeting students from a private college, with a special focus on the students who were good at writing but poor at spoken English, whose interactive mode, psychology and motives of spoken English acquisition are analyzed. Suggestions for improving the effect of spoken English class and students' language output are given after a thorough discussion.
