Abstract: The biggest difference within Distributed Morphology (DM) has been around the different models of lexical insertion of roots. Based on the modes of early or late insertion of roots, Distributed Morphology can be divided into three patterns: the early insertion model, the late insertion model and the limited early insertion model. Different models have been put forward on the basis of different theoretical assumptions and methods, which possess the related advantages and disadvantages in empirical studies. Finally, the studies on Chinese based on DM are commented on.
