To promote the progress and development of journals, the editorial department of Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine held an "Journal Development Consulting Seminar" (online) on June 2, 2022 at 2 pm. The conference was organized by the Journal of Diagnostic Theory and Practice and co organized by Shenzhen Mindray Biomedical Electronics Co., Ltd.
The experts attending this conference include Hu Yiqun, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Professor Wang Xuefeng, Editor in Chief of Diagnostic Theory and Practice, Cheng Lei, Director of Cell Research Editorial Department, and Professor Yu Danghui, President of Naval Medical University Press.
The meeting was chaired by Xu Yiping, Director of the Technology Development Department of Ruijin Hospital. Professor Xu Yiping, Director of the Science and Technology Development Department of Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Deputy Director and Office Director of the Drug Clinical Research Institute, Member of the Drug Clinical Trial Ethics Committee, as the Chief Scientist responsible for the National Major New Drug Creation GCP Platform for the 13th Five Year Plan Science and Technology Major Project; As the person in charge of the EC platform, participated in the construction project of the National Major New Drug Creation GCP during the 11th Five Year Plan period and received rolling funding during the 12th Five Year Plan period. Director Xu presided over the meeting and gave a speech, pointing out that the suggestions of experts on publishing are very valuable. At the same time, he put forward his personal opinions on the cooperation and selection of international publishers in the process of founding the publication, believing that it is necessary to comprehensively consider the direction of publication, economic costs, and other directions.
The President of the Naval Medical University Press, the Director of the Editorial Department of the Journal of the Second Military Medical University, the Director of the International Cooperation Working Committee of the China Association of Scientific and Technological Journals, and the Executive Director of the Shanghai Journal Association, Yu Danghui, guided the direction of the publication. Analyzing the current form of English language publications, it is pointed out that with the support of national policies and the environment of domestic scientific journals, a number of high-level English language publications will emerge in China in the next 5 to 10 years. When starting a new journal, attention should be paid to combining disciplinary advantages, disciplinary content characteristics, and domestic publication gaps to avoid directional errors. After determining the correct direction, it is necessary to apply for early entry into mainstream data at a certain pace.
Director Cheng Lei provided guidance on the difficulties and countermeasures of establishing a new English journal. Cheng Lei is a reviewer, director of the editorial department of Cell Research/Cell Discovery, and science editor. He has previously been involved in a key academic journal project funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China, and has mainly participated in the A-class project of the China Science and Technology Journal International Influence Enhancement Program. Currently, he is leading the project of the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan. Director Cheng Lei pointed out that in the process of establishing a new publication, the following two points should be noted: (1) the direction of publication, finding the gaps in the content of existing publications as the direction of publication; (2) Fully consider the difficulties in managing the publication, such as the need for the editorial board to remain highly active and to avoid personal drafts.
Hu Yiqun, Deputy Director of the Laboratory Department and Vice Dean of the School of Medicine at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dean of the School of Medical Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Deputy Editor in Chief of Diagnostic Theory and Practice, and Vice President of the European Society of Hematology, delivered speeches at the conference. Vice President Hu Yiqun reviewed the publication process of the Journal of Diagnostic Theory and Practice, and made prospects for the future development of diagnostic theory and practice. He hoped that with the support of experts, the journal could reach new heights.
The experts at this meeting provided guidance on the establishment of a new English journal. Professor Wang Xuefeng, Vice Chairman of the Clinical Blood Transfusion Committee of the Chinese Blood Transfusion Association, Vice Chairman of the Hematology and Humorology Expert Committee of the Inspection Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Vice Chairman of the China Cooperation Group of the World Hemophilia Federation, and Professor Wang Xuefeng, Chairman of the Inspection Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association and Editor in Chief of Diagnostic Theory and Practice, summarized the conference speeches and pointed out the valuable suggestions of the experts on the publication, which are worth summarizing and learning from by all members of the editorial department after the conference. We hope to continue to receive the support of all the experts in the future!
