The Expectations of MTI Students and the Realities of the Programme

Abstract:

After 16 years’ development, the challenges and problems faced by MTI programme have gradually emerged. Based on student interview and surveys, this paper compares students’ expectations with the programme status quo through content analysis and descriptive statistics. The existing problems in terms of “practice, internship and employment”, “curriculum”, “faculties” and “teaching methods” have been discussed. Moreover, this paper presents a series of suggestions and solutions to cope with the above problems, providing reference for the reform and further development of MTI programme.
