Since 1990s, more and more scholars in translation studies have put translation ethics at a premium. The influential scholars and their works are Pym (1992, 2000, 2001, 2012), Chesterman (1997, 2001), Venuti (1998, 2013), Arrojo (1997, 2005) , etc.. And Chesterman (2001) is widely accepted as the most influential. This paper, based on the theoretical framework of Chesterman (2001), explores the relationships between translation ethics and translator's language service awareness, arguing that, in an era that is more and more influenced by crowdsourcing, machine translation, translation market, patronage, etc., translators and interpreters ought to be encouraged to improve their language service awareness; meanwhile, radical functionalism in language service should be avoided.
