Applied Translation Studies: On Knowledge Reproduction of Translation Communities

Abstract:

Transknowletology is centered around the exploration of how meta-disciplines like natural science, social science, and humanities can be effectively translated, which emphasizes that the widespread sharing of local knowledge can be accomplished by modifying language, knowledge and discourse construction. This paper explores the development of Pragmatic Translation Studies (PTS) in China, as promoted by the pragmatic translation group with specifical concern about the reproduction, dissemination and discourse construction of knowledge, which, according to the principles of Transknowletology, are key factors in achieving global dissemination of local knowledge. The examination of the actives of pragmatic translation group reveals the accomplishments made by the pragmatic translation group in reconstructing local knowledge and promoting its transformation into global knowledge.
