Abstract:

Translation has rendered the knowledge foundation of Chinese communication studies; however, its “absence” in the historiography of Chinese communication studies is worth pondering. This paper, based on a review and reflection on the current status of translation history research in Chinese communication studies, explores the methods and pathways of translation history research in Chinese communication studies from the perspective of knowledge-centered translatology. Knowledge-centered translatology, by effectively incorporating a translational perspective with significance in the history of knowledge into Chinese disciplinary history, reveals the driving role of translation in intellectual and cultural change and the obscured value of knowledge growth, thus becoming a new growth point in the research of translation history.

Key words: Chinese communication studies, knowledge-centered translatology, history of disciplinary translation
